জাতীয় অর্থনৈতিক পরিষদের নির্বাহী কমিটি (একনেক), রাজশাহী ও রংপুর বিভাগে বিদ্যুৎ বিতরণ লাইন সম্প্রসারণের লক্ষ্যে দুটি প্রকল্পের চূড়ান্ত অনুমোদন দিয়েছে। এই প্রকল্প দুটি বাস্তবায়নে মোট খরচ ধরা হয়েছে ২ হাজার ২১৫ কোটি ১৭ লাখ টাকা। এর মাধ্যমে ৪ লাখ ১৫ হাজার নতুন বিদ্যুৎ সংযোগ দেওয়া হবে। এতে আরো ১ কোটি মানুষকে বিদ্যুতের আওতায় আনা হবে।

তিনি বলেন, বিদ্যুৎ বিতরণ সম্প্রসারণের লক্ষ্যে গৃহীত দুই প্রকল্প ২০২২ সালের মধ্যে বাস্তবায়ন সম্পন্ন হলে প্রকল্প এলাকায় শতভাগ মানুষ বিদ্যুৎ সুবিধার আওতায় চলে আসবে। আগামী ২০৩০ সাল নাগাদ দেশের প্রতিটি মানুষ নিরবচ্ছিন বিদ্যুৎ পরিসেবা পাবে বলে তিনি উল্লেখ করেন।
রংপুর বিভাগ বিদ্যুৎ বিতরণ লাইন ও উপকেন্দ্র সম্প্রসারণ প্রকল্পের খরচ ধরা হয়েছে ১ হাজার ১২৩ কোটি ৮৫ লাখ টাকা। এই প্রকল্প বাস্তবায়ন হলে রংপুর উপকেন্দ্রের বিদ্যুৎ সঞ্চালন সক্ষমতা ২২০ মেগাওয়াট বৃদ্ধি পাবে এবং রংপুর বিভাগে ১ লাখ ৮০ হাজার নতুন সংযোগ দেয়া হবে।
রাজশাহী বিভাগ বিদ্যুৎ বিতরণ লাইন ও উপকেন্দ্র সম্প্রসারণ প্রকল্পের খরচ হবে ১ হাজার ৯১ কোটি ৩২ লাখ টাকা। এই প্রকল্প বাস্তবায়নের ফলে রাজশাহী উপকেন্দ্রের ৪৭০ মেগাওয়াট বিদ্যুৎ সঞ্চালন সক্ষমতা বাড়বে। পাশাপাশি রংপুর বিভাগে ২ লাখ ৩৫ হাজার নতুন সংযোগ দেয়া হবে।
