শ্রীলঙ্কায় ফেসবুক-ম্যাসেঞ্জার, ভাইবার, টুইটারসহ একাধিক সামাজিক যোগাযোগমাধ্যম বন্ধ করে দেওয়া হয়েছে। জানা গেছে, শ্রীলঙ্কায় মসজিদ ও মুসলিমদের দোকানপাটে স্থানীয়দের হামলার জের ধরে অস্থায়ীভাবে এসব যোগাযোগমাধ্যম বন্ধ করে দেওয়া হয়। তথ্য জানিয়েছে বার্তা সংস্থা রয়টার্স।
গতকাল রোববার ফেসবুকে একটি পোস্টের বিতর্কের সূত্র ধরে এই হামলা চালানো হয়। দেশটির পশ্চিম উপকূলীয় শহর চিলাওতে মসজিদ ও মুসলিমদের দোকানপাটে পাথর ছুড়েছে স্থানীয় লোকজন। এ ঘটনায় আব্দুল হামিদ মোহাম্মদ হাসমার নামে ৩৮ বছর বয়সী এক যুবককে আটক করেছে পুলিশ।
কর্তৃপক্ষ জানিয়েছে, তার ফেসবুকের একটি পোস্ট থেকেই ঘটনার সূত্রপাত ঘটে। হাসমার তার পোস্টে লিখেন, ‘বেশি হেসো না, একদিন তোমাদেরও কাঁদতে হবে।’ একইসঙ্গে হুমকিস্বরূপ নানা সহিংসতার কথা উল্লেখ করা হয়।
হাসমারের পোস্টকে ‘ভীতিপ্রদর্শন’ হিসেবে মনে করে স্থানীয় লোকজন ক্ষুব্ধ হয়ে তাকে বেধড়ক পিটিয়েছে। তবে ফেসবুকে সত্যিকার কথোপকথন কী ছিল, তা জানা যায়নি।
তবে ইতিমধ্যেই এলাকার স্থানীয়রা হাসমারের মুক্তির জন্য দাবি জানিয়েছে। আর তাই পরিস্থিতি সামাল দিতে কারফিউ জারি করেছে প্রশাসন।
দেশটির সরকারি তথ্য বিভাগের মহাপরিচালক নালাকা কালুয়েভা বলেন, ‘দেশের শান্তি-শৃঙ্খলা বাজায় রাখার জন্য অস্থায়ীভাবে সামাজিক যোগাযোগমাধ্যমগুলো বন্ধ রাখা হচ্ছে।’
